The energy market is in a period of dynamic change. As a modern, innovative energy distributor and service provider, we began preparing ourselves for the forthcoming changes at an early stage and have adapted our strategic alignment accordingly. In recent years the MVV Energie Group has pursued a successful growth strategy and has now built up a stable core business. We have more than trebled our sales since our stock market flotation in 1999 and have significantly strengthened our position in our core German market. Moreover, we have succeeded in establishing promising initial positions in important market segments expected to produce far-reaching changes in the energy sector. These are the high-growth areas of energy services, environmental energy (this high-growth segment includes non-recyclable waste incineration and renewable energies) and the sale of electricity across the whole of Germany. Our declared aim for the coming years is to consolidate our successes to date and to use these strengths as a springboard for further growth.
During the year under report, we reviewed and realigned the strategy and business portfolio of the MVV Energie Group. We are replacing the broad-based expansion strategy of the past with a growth strategy focused on our core business and primarily aimed at strengthening our network.
The companies of the MVV Energie Group are now focused on:
Our stable core business:
- We are successfully established in Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic in the distribution of electricity, district heating, gas and water, as well as in non-recyclable waste incineration and the use of biomass for energy purposes.
- We own our networks and have longstanding and close customer relationships which we have carefully built up by means of active customer care measures.
- We generate solid earnings in our network of municipal utility companies and enjoy numerous synergies in various cooperation projects.
Our growth potential:
- We aim to acquire further shareholdings to enable us to access new regional markets in Germany and other countries.
- We aim to develop our energy services in order to expand existing customer relationships and to acquire new customers.
- We intend to further expand our environmental energy segment.
