Our investments in research and development (R&D) will serve to secure the future of supplying energy service. For this purpose, we have been implementing innovative ideas even in producing energy: We have thus integrated energy generation from bioenergy and solar energy into contracting models in such a way that our customers will be able to make use of it conveniently and economically. Moreover, we have been accelerating development of more efficient technologies and optimisation of workflows.

We have arranged all R&D activities of MVV Energie AG and its participations in a step-by-step innovation process that ranges from brainstorming to introduction to the market. In so doing, projects are organised in three categories: rapidly realisable innovations are assigned to Category I, while projects that will require 1–4 years to implement fall into Category II. Should marketability be expected to take 5–10 years – as for example with fuel cells – such R&D projects belong to Category III.
