Our Corporate Strategy

MVV Energie has decided in favour of a horizontal, integrated business model both as part of its corporate strategy and in order to preserve its independence. Linking together companies that have the same core businesses and strengths as MVV Energie is at the root of this strategy, which emphasises proximity to customers, close customer ties and ownership of our distribution networks.

 

Horizontal expansion at the distribution level allows us to take advantage of the benefits of synergies and know-how transfers. This distinguishes us from companies with vertical strategies that encompass the entire value chain, including energy generation.

 

Our corporate strategy focuses on our core businesses: electric power, district heating, gas, water and energy from waste incineration. Complementing these core businesses are our segments for value-added services, renewable energy and technologies of the future. When we went public in 1999, we defined the five stepping stones of our expansion strategy, which served in fiscal year 2002/03 as a basis for growth in our distribution and end-consumer business, in our value-added services division and in the markets for decentralised value-added services that have shown great potential for the future. We intend to continue developing these strategic stepping stones.
