Mannheim, November 9, 2000. Ruhrgas Energie Beteiligungs-AG in Essen intends to acquire a 15 % participation in the Mannheim utility, MVV Energie AG. This investment will thus underscore the confidence that Ruhrgas, an enterprise with international activities, has in the growth strategy of MVV Energie AG. Ruhrgas is not planning to increase its participation in future. Discussions are currently underway with the majority shareholder, the City of Mannheim, on increasing the free float by approx. 15% of the shares.
