Dr. Georg Müller, a 45 year-old lawyer, is to become the new CEO of the Mannheim-based energy company MVV Energie AG. As announced by the company on Thursday evening following a meeting of the Supervisory Board, Dr. Müller is thus expected to succeed Dr. Rudolf Schulten, who is leaving the company to become CFO of the EnBW energy group at the beginning of 2009, with effect from 1 January 2009. The appointment was approved for a five-year period.
According to Dr. Peter Kurz, Supervisory Board Chairman of MVV Energie AG and Lord High Mayor of Mannheim, "Dr. Müller convinced us on account of his proven specialist competence and longstanding experience in the energy industry. As a manager, he is characterised by high personal integrity and a distinctly entrepreneurial and strategic approach. He is thus the ideal candidate to press consistently ahead with the successful development of our municipal utility network in future as well."
Dr. Müller studied law in Cologne and Cambridge. Having worked as a lawyer in Düsseldorf, he joined RWE AG in 1995, where he most recently headed the Legal and Board Affairs department. From 2003 to 2007, Dr. Müller was a member of the two-person Executive Board of VSE AG in Saarbrücken. In January 2008, he became CEO of RWE Rhein-Ruhr AG in Essen.
