E.ON edis energia is to take over MVV Polska Sp. z o.o., a subsidiary of MVV Energie AG (Mannheim). The two companies have confirmed that a corresponding purchase agreement was signed yesterday (Wednesday, 6 August). MVV Polska has maintained a successful presence in the Polish market, where it operates in the fields of heat energy generation and distribution and energy consulting, since 1990. The company owns major shareholdings in regional district heating companies in Szczecin and Skarzysko-Kamienna, as well as in MVV EPS, a company offering local heating solutions in numerous Polish towns. MVV Polska thus supplies heating energy directly and via these companies to around 150,000 households in total.
The acquisition of MVV Polska will enable E.ON edis energia to step up its activities in the Polish energy and heating market, where it already operates via shareholdings in the Szczecin, Opole and Jarocin regions. By acquiring MVV Polska, E.ON edis energia will expand its market share and will supply energy and heating to a total of 480,000 households in future. The heating and energy market is to be further developed and expanded by the companies within the E.ON edis energia Group.
This sale marks the completion of MVV Energie's previously announced withdrawal from the Polish market. The two companies have agreed to maintain confidentiality as to the purchase price. The contracts are subject to approval by the relevant antitrust authorities.
