Gas and water prices remain constant, slight increase in electricity and district heating prices

MVV Energie AG announces price changes as of next year and links them with a new price guarantee up to 30 September 2008

Unlike numerous energy suppliers who have announced increases in their electricity and gas prices of up to 10 percent as of 1 October or as of 1 January, the Mannheim-based en-ergy company MVV Energie is foregoing any such substantial price adjustments. Most re-cently on Monday, for example, E.on announced electricity and gas price increases of up to 9.9 percent. As MVV Energie announced in Mannheim on Monday, the Mannheim energy sup-plier, which has not undertaken any price increases since 1 October 2006, will also be leav-ing its gas and water prices unchanged after 1 January 2008. The standard electricity tariff will rise by 4.2 percent at the beginning of the new year, while the price for environmen-tally-friendly district heating is expected to increase at the same time by an average of 5.7 percent.

"This means that we are consistently maintaining our moderate, reliable pricing policies to the benefit of our customers," commented Matthias Brückmann, Sales Director. At the same time, the Mannheim energy company has provided its customers with a price guaran-tee up to 30 September 2008. "These price adjustments are well below those announced by our competitors," added Brückmann. "By means of efficiency enhancements and cost sav-ings, we have succeeded in offsetting a large share of the rise in our procurement costs. Our customers will therefore be able to rely on a secure, environmentally-friendly and in-expensive energy supply in future as well."
