The Chairman of the Executive Board of Energieversorgung Offenbach AG (EVO), Matthias Brückmann, is set to become the new Sales Director at MVV Energie AG, Germany's largest municipal utility group. This move was unanimously approved by the Supervisory Board of the Mannheim-based energy company at its meeting today. Brückmann will assume his new re-sponsibilities starting on 1 August 2007.
Brückmann (45) has been Executive Board Chairman of EVO, in which MVV Energie has held a majority shareholding since 2000, since October 2003. The manager, who is married and has one child, has already worked in Mannheim in the past, where he headed the sales de-partment at MVV Energie. "I am pleased to accept this new challenge. I aim to play my part in ensuring that MVV Energie can maintain its strong, growth-driven position in the eyes of its customers in the light of the increasing competition in the German energy market."

EVO has been realigned under Brückmann's management in recent years. This has involved streamlining work processes, adjusting the product range and refocusing on the profitable core business of electricity, gas, tap water, district heating and waste incineration. These measures have enabled EVO to increase its net surplus by 50 percent over the past three years to just under Euro 21 million. The EVO Group has more than 800 employees and total assets of around Euro 310 million.
The MVV Energie Group currently has around 6,300 employees in Germany and abroad and generated sales of almost Euro 2.3 billion in the past financial year. The municipal utility network includes shareholdings in Offenbach, Kiel, Solingen and Ingolstadt, as well as in Po-land and the Czech Republic. Alongside its core business fields of electricity, gas, district heating and water, MVV Energie is also one of the leading companies in the German market in its two high-growth segments of environmental energy and energy-related services.
