Welcome to MVV Energie: Supplier of the future

MVV Energie, a publicly listed municipal utility group, is one of Germany's leading and most profitable energy companies. Outstanding features of our group of companies are it balanced business portfolio, which includes electricity, district heating, gas, water, energy-related services and environmental energy, as well as the horizontal networking and integration of its shareholdings in local and regional operators with the same business fields.

With our innovative sales products available throughout Germany, we are increasingly acquiring new customers in the highly competitive electricity and gas markets. In our environmental energy business, which focuses on generating steam and electricity from non-recyclable waste and biomass, we are Germany's third-largest operator of waste and old timber incineration plants. In our energy services business as well, we have built up a leading position in the German market by offering decentralised energy generation concepts, energy saving contracting services and supplying energy and utilities to industrial parks.

With our strategic realignment, we have laid a foundation for the sustainable profitable further development of our group of companies. We will be investing three billion euros in our existing business and in sustainable profitable growth over the next ten years. Renewable energies and the future markets of climate protection and energy efficiency form one of the focuses of our medium and long-term strategy. We aim to provide our customers with a secure supply in future as well, to create lasting value for our investors and to offer sustainable jobs to our employees.

We see ourselves as: MVV Energie - Supplier of the Future.

According to its electricity volume, the MVV Energie Group is the sixth-largest German power supplier. With its district-heating volume, the MVV Energie Group now ranks on the first ten Europe-wide. Since going public in 1999, a dynamic corporate group with numerous participations has developed from the original Mannheim parent companies, MVV Energie AG and MVV RHE GmbH.

Distribution Utilities in Germany

Of particular importance for our corporate growth is our participation commitment in German municipal public utilities, which has strengthened our independent position as an enterprise in the German energy markets. We have been pursuing the principle of horizontal integration of multi-utilities, i.e., of companies whose core business is comparable to ours. Therein we see a counterpart to the strategy of major generation utilities, which are striving for vertical concentration in the German energy markets.

German Service Providers

From its core business, the MVV Energie Group has developed multi-utility services in various sectors of the energy industry. Thanks to our participations in service providers, we have succeeded in gaining valuable know-how or in accessing new markets. Our value-added service companies provide customised outsourcing solutions to industry and municipal local authorities in the form of contracting solutions, as well as developing and improving residential and commercial sites, supplying and managing real estate in the fields of technical facility management, district heating, meter management and utilities invoicing, and providing consultancy services both nationally and internationally.

Companies Abroad

European energy markets have been growing together and have thus opened up the possibility for us to internationalise our core business and services. With our international commitments in distribution utilities, we have been concentrating on countries with stable economic development. We have been successful with our multi-utility services and energy generation from renewable sources of energy both in Germany and abroad. We have either founded or acquired utilities and service providers, mainly in the Czech Republic.
