MVV Energie enhances efficiency in energy-related services business

Mannheim, 25 September 2009. By incurring one-off expenses and posting write-downs of around Euro 34 million, MVV Energie AG aims to boost the efficiency of its MVV Energiedienstleistungen GmbH subsidiary for the future. This will lead to a corresponding charge on earnings in the current 2008/09 financial year (1 October 2008 - 30 September 2009). As announced by the company on Friday, a realignment will sustainably improve the earnings performance at the high-growth energy-related services division. The write-downs at MVV Energiedienstleistungen GmbH, which are partly due to the economic crisis, chiefly relate to plant at Industriepark Gersthofen near Augsburg, in Korbach in Northern Hessen and in Ludwigshafen.

Excluding this one-off item, from an operating perspective MVV Energie confirms its previous expectation of a slight decline in earnings (EBIT before IAS 39) for the 2008/2009 financial year as a whole compared with the previous year (Euro 249 million). Preliminary figures from the consolidated financial statements for the 2008/09 financial year will be published on 19 November 2009.
