Mannheim, February 27, 2003. At its meeting today, the Supervisory Board of publicly listed MVV Energie AG unanimously approved the appointment of Dr. Rudolf Schulten as Chairman of the Executive Board of MVV Energie AG for a period of five years as of October 1, 2003. Dr. Schulten will thus succeed Roland Hartung (66), who will step down as of September 30, 2003, for reasons of age. As of today, Roland Hartung will continue his activities for this energy distributor and value-added services provider, which is active Europe-wide, as Chairman of the Executive Board (previously: Spokesman of the Executive Board) until his retirement.

Dr. Rudolf Schulten, Diplom-Kaufmann (equivalent to an MBA), was born in Göttingen in 1955 and is currently serving as Chief Financial Officer of Vattenfall-Europe subsidiary BEWAG AG in Berlin.
