MVV Sells EnBW shares

Mannheim, February 7, 2001. On February 7, 2001, the Commission of the European Communities, Directorate General on Competition, approved the sale of the EnBW shares held by MVV Energie AG to ElectricitŽ de France International. As a consequence, approx. DM 300 million will flow into MVV Energie AG, which will be used to finance the investment portfolio of DM 2-2.5 billion over the next 3-4 years, including acquisition of participations in other energy-distribution utilities. MVV Energie AG currently holds a share of the capital in EnBW of approx. 1.9 per cent. The approx. 4.7 million bearer shares were acquired in 1985 when the State of Baden-WŸrttemberg sold shares in the former Badenwerk. With the merger of Badenwerk and EVS to EnBW, the share of MVV Energie AG decreased to a strategically meaningless percentage.
